During my placement at Marks and Spencer, I was able to shadow the VM teams in all the departments of the store, and was given the chance to provide creative input in styling mannequins and creating displays.
When I was on womenswear I had the opportunity to style two given blouses, getting to choose the trousers and shoes to go with them.
As the tops were bronze and blue, and most of the items on the rails around them were of similar colours, I decided to stick with the colour scheme for the trousers as well, choosing a navy blue straight cut and a quirkier pair with a dark blue and light brown pattern. I was asked to use boots for the shoes, but I didn't want to default to black, so I instead matched them with the colours of the tops creating a bit of contrast with the trousers.
